You all have heard many times before, 'Anyone can be a Father, but it takes someone special to be a Dad.'  Hope those special people - grandfathers, fathers, stepfathers, and those who take a father's role - have an awesome day with your family!
*  A special thank you to the seven parishioners who met on the church parking lot last Wednesday with their rakes, brooms, shovels, leaf blowers, etc. and did a fantastic job of spring cleaning the church grounds. Your work did not go unnoticed!
*  In connection with church grounds, it would be greatly appreciated if those who have lawn mowers and a means of transporting them, could help with mowing the grass around the church.  If all who are able could do just a small portion each, it would be completed quickly.  Hopefully this task will eventually be undertaken by a summer student, but while we wait, it really could do with a cut.
*  As you know, PWRDF has been providing relief for the famine stricken areas especially in the South Sudan.  June 30 is the federal government deadline for the famine relief fund matching dollars, dollars which we contribute to PWRDF.  The deadline is being made known in case you would like to contribute further to this worthy cause.
*  A letter from vestry regarding the financial situation in our Parish has been written to you.  If you receive enews, you have already received this letter, if not, yours was placed in alphabetical order at the back of the church.  If you could not open the attached letter in your enews, please reply and let me know and it will be sent to you in a different manner.
*  The Men's Service Club's Flea Market/Rummage Sale
will take place on Saturday, June 17 from 8 a.m. to noon. Donations of items will be received via the ramp today, Wednesday, from 9 to noon, tomorrow, Thursday, from 9 to noon and 7 to 9 p.m., and likewise on Friday, 9 to noon and 7 to 9 p.m.  Someone will be at the ramp area to receive your items.  Thank you in advance for your support in this much needed fund raising venture.  If you have questions or need help, please contact Tasker at 368-5676 or taskerking@nf.sympatico.ca
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR FATHERS' DAY, Sunday, June 18! Let's make it very special!  Following the service at 11 a.m. you will be able to enjoy hotdogs and hamburgers; and then children/grandchildren will plant flowers around the flag pole area, flowers that the youth grew from seed and which have been eagerly waiting to be planted outside.  Feel free to bring additional flowers to add to the area.
*  An important notice also for all card players!  On Tuesdays, for the month of July (4, 11, 18 and 25) the parish will host a "bring your own cards and baskets" card game.  Doors will open at 1 p.m. with the game beginning at 2 p.m. Cost is just $5 per person.  Cash prizes will be awarded for first and second place, boobie, and ace of hearts.  Come, fill a table, and enjoy!
*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Sidespersons' team # 3 and Counting team # 5.

Please remember to buy an extra non-perishable item or two for the food box.  The need is still as great during the summer months as during the rest of the year.  Thanks for your continual generous support of the needy.
Did you child or grandchild miss the deadline for VBS registration?  No worries, as registration has been extended and forms are available at the church office.  The VBS kick off service will be on Sunday, June 25, at the 11 a.m. service.  Training for all junior leaders and helpers will be on Friday, June 23, at 10 a.m. followed by an afternoon of decorating (lunch will be served).  Many hands make light work, so would you like to join us to help decorate and set up for VBS (June 26 to June 30) - just contact Denise if you want to donate some time 765-8924, rdenisegill@hotmail.ca

Have a great weekend!
God Bless you all,
Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
