Ascension News for December 20, 2017

Unto you is born this day, a Savior who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11

May the peace and blessings of Christmas be yours; and may the coming year be filled with happiness. Merry Christmas!

*  Most of you are aware of the services for Christmas Eve:  just a quick recap, since Christmas Eve is on Sunday, there will be Holy Eucharist at 10 a.m. followed by the Welsh Eucharist at 4 p.m., Holy Eucharist (BAS) at 7 p.m., and Holy Communion (BCP) at 11 p.m.

*  Please take note that services for Sunday, December 31, will be at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. NO evening service for New Year's Eve.

*  Special thanks to all those who contributed to the Christmas Hampers; many will have a great Christmas dinner as the result of your kindness.  Many thanks are also extended to all those who supported St. Margaret's Advent Outreach.  What a wonderful response to our outreach project!  'God loveth cheerful givers,' and our parish has so many of them.

*  A reminder that in order to have donations/offerings included on your income tax receipt for 2017, all must be received at the church office by Sunday, December 31, 2017.  Remember also that the church office is closed from Monday, December 25, 2017, to Monday, January 1, 2018.

*  As you know, many families have difficulty in making ends meet, especially during the Christmas Season and they rely on the food bank for many things they need.  So please pick up a few extra groceries for our food boxes when you do your grocery shopping.  This week they are hoping in particular for crackers, cereal, and tinned soup.  Thanks for your continuous support!

*  The youth group sends thanks to all those who purchased Christmas puddings to assist the youth of the Good Shepherd and the Ascension with the CLAY fundraiser.

*  Captains, please make sure you alert your teams regarding Sidespersons' duty for Christmas Eve:  Team # 6 at 10 a.m., Team #1 at 4 p.m., Team #2 at 7 p.m., and Team #3 at 11 p.m.  Counting Team will be #8.

*  For those who attended the Carols & Lessons Service and the Tree Lighting Ceremony, I am sure you will agree that it was inspiring.  It surely puts eveyone in the spirit of Christmas!  Special thanks to both Choirs and especially to the director, Mrs. Kearley! It was all wonderful!  (Check out the Parish's facebook for a glimpse of the Tree Lighting Event!)

May God Bless you during this Blessed Season!
Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
