Ascension News for January 10, 2018



I trust you all had a great New Year"s celebration with family and friends.  Hopefully, if resolutions were made, God is giving you the strength to hold to them.  

*  Church services are back to regular times (8:30 a.m.11 a.m., and 6:30 p.m.), and Ascension Cafe will resume on Sunday, January 14, after the 8:30 a.m. service.

*  This evening, Wednesday, January 10, Senior Choir practice will resume at 7 p.m.  Mrs. Kearley is hoping she will have new members to welcome.

*  All youth eight years and older are welcome to join the Junior Choir, which will resume on Wednesday, January 24, at 6 p.m.

* Confirmation candidates, please take note that there will be a class next Sunday, January 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the church and multipurpose room.

*  Our first youth group get-together for the New Year will be on Friday, January 12, from 7 to 9 p.m.  All youth age 12 and up are invited to attend.  We will be planning upcoming activities, discussing CLAY, enjoying food as well as great fellowship. Hope to see you there!!

*  With respect to CLAY, the gathering of Anglican and Lutheran youth from across Canada takes place every two years at different locations across Canada.  The Gathering for this year will be in Thunder Bay, Ontario, from August 15 to August 19!  If you would like to hear about this incredible gathering and receive all necessary information, you can hear all at the Youth Group on Friday evening.

*  The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is January 15 to January 20.  Here is a brief outline of the services:

Monday, January 15, at 10 a.m. the service will be at Solid Rock Wesleyan Church, and Archdeacon Charlene Taylor will be preaching.

Tuesday, January 16, at 10 a.m. the service will be at First United, and Rev'd Stuart Marples will be preaching.

Wednesday, January 17, at 7:30 p.m. the service will be at the Church of the Ascension, and Captain Joshua Randell will be preaching.

Thursday, January 18, at 10 a.m. the service will be at Park Avenue Pentecostal, and Canon David will be preaching.

Friday, January 19, at 10 a.m. the service will be at Salvation Army Citadel, and Rev'd Paul Perry will be preaching.

*  The Men's Service Club annual general meeting will take place on Monday, January 15, at 7 o'clock.  

*  Moms, dads, and grandparents, please remind the young children that Godly Play starts again on Sunday, January 14.  

*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Sidespersons' Team # 1 and Counting Team # 3.
