Home Again Furniture  Bank Lenten Campaign - Seat with a Heartbeat!

This Lenten Season our Archdeaconry will be involved in a campaign to support the ongoing work of Home Again.  As you already know, in 2015 our Diocese was a founding partner of Home Again to ensure that those in need could receive gently used furniture and other household items. You will hear more about the project as the weeks go by.
The picture above is of the group that gathered last Saturday to help by preparing the materials that will be used during the Campaign.  (Check our Parish's Facebook page and you will see more pictures of Saturday's get together.)

On Sunday, February 11, there will be no 6:30 service at the Ascension; instead, the evening church service will be the 'Frosty Festival Community Ecumenical Church service' taking place at the Good Shepherd from 5:30 to 7 p.m.  An offering will be received for the food banks in Mount Pearl.

*  Don't forget the PWRDF Luncheon on February 18 after the 11 a.m. service.  For just $9 per adult or $20 per family, you will enjoy a delicious lunch and also be supporting the outreach ministries of PWRDF.  If you haven't been contacted, and you are interested in attending, please call Fronie at 769-8430 for a ticket. (Complete details were in last week's enews and in the Chimes.)

*  Godly Play is a go-ahead for next Sunday, February 11!  The lesson will be the story of the Good Shepherd.

*  There will be no un-booked tickets at the door for the 6 o'clock pancake supper on Shrove Tuesday, February 13so if you and your family plan to attend, please make sure you book/purchase ticket/tickets ($10 adult with children eating free) from any member of the Men's Club or by calling Ray at 368-6536.  Deadline for ticket purchase/booking is February 11!!  And, card players, if you are staying for the card game, all you need is your $6 and, as usual, your own cards and baskets.

*  It's getting close to income tax time!!  That means you will need your charitable receipt from church!  Please, would you pick up Lenten Package from the back of the church as soon as possible?  It includes your receipt as well as other items pertaining to the Lenten Season.

*  An important notice regarding Saturday, February 10!!  A Pastoral Care Workshop is being held in the Ascension auditorium from 9:45 a.m. to 2 p.m.  It's all about interacting and communicating with individuals with dementia. Along life's journey, we all may, at one time or another, be in a situation where we would like to know how best to communicate with these individuals.  This workshop will help you to understand and communicate with them. (Soup/sandwich lunch will be provided by the ACW of the Parish.) Please call the church office or email Rev'd Lynn at if you plan to attend.  (Admission is a non-perishable food item.)

*  If you are a member of the ACW, this message is for you:  next Sunday, February 11, at 8:30 a.m., is your corporate communion, breakfast, and installation of officers.

*  You may want to mark your calendars for the Memorial Hymn Sing that will take place on Sunday, February 25, at 11 a.m.  The envelopes and pledge sheets are in your Lenten package.  If you are planning to remember a loved one in this way, please submit your requests and donation in the envelope provided by Friday, February 16.

*  The food bank is anxiously waiting for non-perishable groceries.  This week they are hoping for crackers, cereal, and tinned soup!  Please pick up an extra item or two when you do your shopping this weekend.  Thanks so much!

*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Counting Team # 7 and Sidespersons' Team # 5.

*  Just a reminder in reference to the notice in the Chimes last Sunday:  the Parish Vitality Bible Study is being held on two dates - the choice is yours - February 14, following the 9:30 a.m. Ash Wednesday service or February 25, following the 6:30 p.m. service.  Town hall meetings will be scheduled later.

That's it for another week,
God Bless,
Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
