Ascension News for February 28, 2018

*  Our Lenten "Quiet Wednesdays" continue today with Holy Eucharist at 9:30, followed by our Lenten Study at 10:15 until noon, and the Stations of the Cross at 12:15 p.m.  The Lenten Evening service is at 7 p.m. led by the Anglican Church Women (ACW).

*  Our Parish Annual General Meeting is on Sunday, April 8.  The nominating committee is still in the process of aiming to have parishioners fill positions of vestry members, Synod delegates, alternative Synod delegates and People's wardens.  If you would like to understand more fully the 'workings' of the parish and have a voice in decision making, then why not become involved by offering yourself as a nominee for one of these positions.  Just contact the clergy at 368-5693 or the current people's warden, Tom, at 368-0656.

*  The 10:15 a.m. Lenten Study "Opening Doors" will have Angela Crockwell as a guest today from "Thrive."

Attention all men of the Parish!!!  On Monday, March 12, our Annual Bishop's Fish and Brewis dinner will take place at 6 p.m.  For just $10, you will surely enjoy the fellowship and food; and also hear Bishop Geoff's address. Deadline for purchasing or booking tickets is Friday, March 9 - no unbooked tickets will be sold at the door. Just call Ray at 368-6536 to book your ticket today!

*  Servers, please don't forget to let the Bellamys (368-5531) know if you will be attending the supper for Servers of the Parish on Friday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m. There will be a brief meeting and some conversation as well, and will finish around 8:30 p.m.  Actually, besides our present servers, anyone who is interested in being part of this ministry is welcome to attend.

*  With respect to the Godly Play schedule for March, next Sunday, March 4, will be the first of three sessions of the Faces of Easter.

*  By now you all have either seen the sign or heard about the March into Spring Fair taking place on Saturday, March 3, from 10 to 3 p.m.  A table has been rented by the youth group, and they are setting up a Bake Stall.  The proceeds from their sale will go toward their trip to CLAY in Ontario where they will join over 1000 youth and leaders for a week of activities.  They are hoping that you will help by donating baked items which can be dropped off at the parish on Friday, March 2, from 9 to noon, or 6:30 to 7:30 that evening.  Thanks in anticipation of great help!

*  This is an invitation to girls ages 9 to 13 (along with their moms, aunts, or nans)!!  On Friday, March 9, from 5 to 9 p.m. you are invited to come together for an evening of eating, music, and even rug hooking.  The menu includes bologna, toutons, and tea buns.  Our special guest, Vicki Larkin, will entertain us with a few tunes on the accordion and teach you how to play an ugly stick, and Winnie Glavine will teach you how to hook rugs.  (Rug hooking kit is just $10 per person.)  There is a sheet in the side foyer to sign up or you can contact the church office at 368-5693.  Deadline is Monday, March 5, so don't delay!!

*  Thanks again for your donations to the food bank box.  This week they are hoping for toilet tissue, tinned milk, and tinned tomatoes.

*  Captains!! please remind your teams:  Sidespersons' Team # 2 and Counting Team # 2.

Take care in this winter weather - spring is coming! *:) happy
God Bless,
Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
