Ascension News for March 7, 2018

Next Sunday, March 11, is Mothering Sunday.  Let us always remember to pray for, care for, and show respect for Mother Church that nurtures us, and Mother Earth that sustains us.  Let us also continue to thank God for all mothers, as well as those who mother us, that the love and care they give may be reflected in the way that we show our love and care for others.

*  Since we are looking toward next Sunday, don't forget that the Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. on March 11.  It may be wise to remember to put our clocks one hour ahead before bedtime on Saturday, or we may be arriving at church when the others are leaving *:) happy.

*  Several new contacts are receiving this enews this week.  I trust it will be of some value to you.  If events are postponed, or if you fail to get the Chimes, or for whatever reason you are not up to date with church happenings, this news will keep you informed.  Welcome!

*  Attention men of the parish!!  You won't be having Fish and Brewis during the Annual Bishop's Event at the church on Monday, March 12, if you haven't booked or purchased your  $10 ticket by this Friday, March 9as there will be no unbooked tickets sold at the door.  So call Ray at 368-6536 or contact any member of the Men's Service Club if you don't want to miss it.

*  Next Sunday, March 11, there is a Family Service for Mothering Sunday, so there will be no Godly Play.

*  Thanks for considering the needy as you grocery shop.  This week the items most needed are meatballs & gravy, Irish stew, one-liter orange juice and tinned fruit.

*  On Sunday, March 18, during the 11 a.m. service, you will be receiving a 'progress report' from the Worship Consulting Committee.  You will be informed as to the proposed changes to the nave and chancel of the church.  There will be an opportunity for feedback and questions during the AGM on April 8.

*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Sidespersons' Team # 3, and Counting Team # 3.

*  Today is our 'Quiet Wednesday!' There will be Holy Eucharist at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Lenten Study 'Opening Doors' at 10:15 with our guest being a representative from SHOP.  At 12:15 there will be Stations of the Cross, and, at 7 this evening will be our Lenten Service led by the Men's Service Club.
That's it folks,
May you continue to walk with God on your Lenten Journey,
Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
