Giving Thanks

God of our salvation,

your Spirit has given us new life,

and you have nourished us with holy things.

May we be living members of your Son Jesus Christ,

And exercise the ministry to which we are called.

This we pray in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen.

This prayer, found in the Book of Alternative Services, for use during Ember Days, as the prayer after communion, helps to identify how we as the people of Christ give thanks.

We give thanks for many different things, including new life, new opportunities, new ways and ministries in the church.

We also give thanks for healing, for the passing of grief, for new relationships, new seasons.

We also give thanks for anniversaries, for special honours and accolades we may have been offered in life.

We also give thanks for the gift of love, and for the gift of loved ones that may have died.

In the parish, at the last vestry meeting, it was passed that as a parish we implement a new set of envelopes to assist parishioners and guests/newcomers to show their thanks in life for all blessings.

This will replace the Memorial Fund Envelopes. Presently the Memorial Fund is at a level that will sustain all Memorial Fund costs for many years to come. Effective Easter Sunday, All additional envelopes will be marked “Giving Thanks” in order to enable the Giving Thanks Ministry to assist in the work and mission of our parish. Please share this information with parishioners, friends, guests and newcomers to the parish.
