Ascension News for May 9, 2018

Sunday, May 13
, is Mother's Day!

'Happy Mother's Day' to all Mothers, Grandmothers, about-to-be Mothers, and those who Mother.    I do hope you have a wonderful day with your family.  A poem, which was sent to me by a friend, entitled "Mother's Crown" is attached that you may enjoy reading.

*  A reminder that on Sunday, May 13, there will be no Evening Worship at 6:30 p.m.

*  Tomorrow, May 10, is Ascension Day, and, as usual, on Ascension Day, our confirmation service will take place at 7 p.m.  It is hoped that many will be present to share in this special service with our seven confirmation candidates.  May God Bless them all!

*  Final reminder:  a card Game is happening on Tuesday, May 15, at 7 p.m. in our church's auditorium, in support of the youth attending the CLAY conference in August.  Just $6 and your own cards and baskets are all that is needed.  Tea/coffee will be provided.  Thanks for your anticipated support!

*  All grounds need to be beautified after our long winter, and that includes the church grounds.  If you are able, we hope you can help do just that on May 31 at 6:30 p.m.  Bring your rakes, gloves, wheelbarrows, lawn mowers, etc.!  The CLB will be helping and also supplying refreshments.
*  The town hall meeting (for the Ascension, the Good Shepherd, and New Hope) sponsored by the Diocesan Commission on Parish Renewal Vitality will be taking place on June 9 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Parish of the Good Shepherd.  You are all invited to participate!

*  Items needed for the food bank this week are crackers, cereal, and tinned soup!  Thanks for your continued support for those in need.

*  Mark your calendars for July 1! We will be hosting the University of Redlands Chapel Singers at our 11 a.m. service.  At that time they will be in our province participating in a music festival.  The director of this choir is a Newfoundlander! Come and enjoy!

*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Sidespersons' Team # 2 and Counting Team #4.

*  Last, but by no means least, special thanks are extended to the Men's Service Club for the delicious roast beef supper all the ladies enjoyed on Monday evening!  They cooked and they served - how wonderful is that!!  Great thanks also to the Sweet Forget-Me-Nots!  An awesome evening indeed!

Enjoy this beautiful day!
Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
