Ascension News for May 16, 2018

May 20
is Pentecost Sunday - the seventh Sunday after Easter.  May peace and happiness be yours this day; and, may God, from whom every good gift comes, send the Holy Spirit to guide us on our Journey.

*  Next Sunday, May 20, the focus in Godly Play will be on the "Mystery of Pentecost," so that the youth may better understand 'what it's all about.'

*  According to I Corinthians 3, the Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others.  One way, of course, is helping to provide for those in need.  Thank you all for your donations to the food bank.  This week they would appreciate tinned vegetables, tinned pasta, and tinned beans.

*  The date has been set for the clean up of the church grounds.  Let's get together with our rakes, gloves, wheelbarrows, and whatever else is needed for the task and see how we can beautify the church grounds.  The CLB plans to help clean up as well as supply refreshments for the working crew.  Hope to see many of those that are able on Thursday, May 31, at 6:30 p.m.

*  Just a reminder that the town hall meeting sponsored by the Diocesan Commission on Parish Renewal and Viability for the parishes of the Good Shepherd, the Ascension, and New Hope, will take place at the Parish of the Good Shepherd on June 9 from 10 a.m. to noon.

*  There will be no Evening Service Sunday, May 20, and throughout the summer until the fall.  You will be notified when the Sunday evening services resume.

Special thanks to all who came to the card party last evening to help and to support the youth.  The fundraiser was to financially aid the youth who are attending the Clay conference in August.

*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Sidespersons Team # 3 and Counting Team # 5.

Have a great week!
God Bless you all,
Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
