Ascension News for September 19, 2018

Saturday, September 22, is the first day of Autumn!  It has been said that 'autumn is the time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature has been saving up all year for its grand finale.'  Enjoy the beauty of the season!

A few important notices for you:

*  Evening services will resume on Sunday, October 14, at 6:30 p.m.

*  Next Sunday, September 23, is Welcome Back Sunday.  You will be given the opportunity of hearing about the different organizations and ministries, gather more information about them, and also register to be part of one or more of them if something sparks your interest.    Following the 11 o'clock service there will be refreshments and a BBQ lunch. Entertainment will be provided by Jelly Bean Entertainment featuring reptiles and other creatures.   Hope to see you there!

*  Please inform your children or grandchildren that youth group will be meeting Friday, September 21, at the Church of the Ascension.

*  On Tuesday, September 25, the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association (CHHA) will be hosting an information session and screening from 2 to 3:15 p.m. in the Ascension auditorium.  If you would like to have a screening, please call 1-888-753-3224 before September 25.

*  Reminding you again to please save your recyclables for the C.L.B. recycling drive scheduled for October 20!

*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Counting Team # 5 (this is not a mistake - a switch was made), and Sidespersons' Team # 3.

*  Once again the food bank is asking for your continued help - an item or two when you are picking up your groceries would be greatly appreciated.  They are hoping for tea bags, sugar, and peanut butter this week.

*  Bible Study (Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning) will be starting in October.  Keep a lookout for startup times.

*  Don't forget to register or contact Canon David if you plan to either participate or donate to 'Ride for Refuge' taking place on September 29.  This year money raised will go to support the Canadian Foodgrains Bank which administers Foodbanks nationally.
God Bless,
Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
