Autumn is lovely indeed - it's all about early sunsets, pumpkins, harvest moons, crunchy colorful leaves, warm sweaters,.....and the list goes on.  Autumn is also the season that teaches us that change can be beautiful.

*  All early Sunday morning worshipers were so pleased with the resuming of the Ascension Cafe this past Sunday.  Thanks to the volunteers who have made it possible. The toasted homemade bread was delicious!! There is still a need for volunteers for one of the weeks during the month.  Please call Rev'd Lynn if you would like to be part of this ministry.

*  Just a reminder that Sunday Evening Services at 6:30 p.m. have resumed as well.

*  A message especially for youth group - on Friday of this week (October 19), you are invited to try out your bowling skills at Paradise Bowl, 1187 Kenmount Road.  Parents, please drop off the youth by 6:45 p.m. for one hour of bowling.  They will be returning to the Church of the Good Shepherd for pizza and will be ready to be picked up from there no later than 9 p.m.

*  Thanks to all who donated to the food bank box last week.  This week they are hoping for toilet tissue, tinned milk, and tinned tomatoes.  They would also appreciate a monetary donation to the hamper fund if you should choose to help that way.

*  We will be having our annual All Souls' Service on November 2.  Should you wish to remember your loved one who has passed on, please write the name in the book at the back of the church.  These names will be read out at the All Souls' service.

*  Mrs. Kearley is still hoping she will have people coming to see her regarding joining the senior and junior choirs. Practices are held every Wednesday evening.

*  The fall Bible Study being held on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings have already begun as per times given in the last e-news and Chimes.  There is always room for more.  The Study is based on the book of Exodus, Countering Pharaoh's Production-Consumption Society Today.

*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Sidespersons' Team # 1 and Counting Team # 3.

*  The first meeting of the fall for the Parish Network Visitors will be held at Shirley Cooper's home on 67 Commonwealth Avenue at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 25.  New members or prospective members are welcome.  If you cannot make it to the meeting, but wish to join our group, call Shirley at 368-6180, Margaret at 368-1867, or speak to Rev'd Lynn at the church.  They will be able to answer any of your questions.  Visits involve about one hour per month at the home or personal care home of a sick or shut-in senior.  Please consider this very important ministry.

*  You have recently been informed about the upcoming Every Member Visitation.  In that regard, during the next couple of weeks, you may receive a telephone call from a vestry member, a retired clergy, or someone who has volunteered to be part of this ministry.  They are in the process of updating the parish list to make sure our parish records are accurate. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

*  With respect to the Every Member Visitation, we are still in need of others to assist with this ministry.  If you are interested in becoming part of this important ministry, please sign up at the office, or if you would like more information, please contact Canon David by calling 368-5693.

*  The sessions for our confirmation candidates have begun.  However, you can still register your child or grandchild if he/she is hoping to be confirmed in 2019.  You can contact the office if you need more information or speak to Canon David, Rev'd Lynn, or Mrs. Kearley.  Please remember these youth in your prayers during their confirmation journey.

(Sorry, but there will be no e-news next Wednesday as I will be out of the province.)
God Bless you all,
Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
