Ascension News for December 26, 2018

FAITH makes things possible,
HOPE makes things work,
LOVE makes things beautiful,
May you have all three this CHRISTMAS,
GOD BLESS you at this time and always!

*  Please note that the Church office will be closed from December 25 to December 29, inclusive.  It will open again on Monday, December 31 from 9 until noon, and will close again on Tuesday, January 1, in observance of New Year's Day.  Regular office hours will resume on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

*  Take note that in order to have your donations included on your 2018 income tax receipt, they must be received at the church office by Monday, December 31, at noon.

*  Godly Play will resume on January 13, 2019.

*  For those who usually attend Wednesday morning Holy Communion, it will continue as always as of Wednesday, January 9.

*  In case you are wondering, the Giving Thanks or Christmas memorials, as they are commonly called, will be published and available on January 27, 2019.

*  The John Howard Society sends great thanks to the Parish of the Ascension for all the donations received via St. Margaret's.  They will be distributed to those in need.

*  Bishop Geoff and Kathy Peddle are inviting you all to attend the Bishop's New Year's Levee being held at the Cathedral Crypt on January 1 beginning at 2 until 3:30 p.m. You can park on the Cathedral Parking lot and enter at the lower Parish office door to the Cathedral.

*  Continued thanks for all items given to the food bank.  This week they are hoping for crackers, cereal, and tinned soup.  A monetary donation is also gratefully accepted.

*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Sidespersons' Team # 3, and Counting Team # 5.

*  We, the parish family, have much to be grateful for during this Holy Season

- the special Advent Bible Study with Rev'd Lynn, the many and varied church services given by Rev'd David, Rev'd Lynn and with help from our retired ministers, the opportunities to help others in our midst via the hampers and other charitable events, the beautiful hymns, songs and music especially selected for Christmas and delivered by Mrs Kearley and her choirs, the means given to remember our departed loved ones, and the list goes on.  Thanks to them and to God for all his blessings.

Hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas with family and friends.

God Bless you all!
Jean (on behalf of the Ascension)
