For everything there is a season..... (Ecclesiastes 3:1).  There is the time to celebrate and there is the time to mourn.... Lent is the time for reflection and transformation.  Let us look within during this Lenten journey and aim to change into what we ought to be.

*  Today is Ash Wednesday!  There will be Holy Eucharist and the Imposition of Ashes at 9:30 a.m., and at 7 p.m.  Following this morning's worship, there will the Lenten Bible Study 'The Way of Love - Practices for a Jesus Centered Life.'  This introductory session will introduce the Way of Love and invite participants to reflect on themes of repentance and the new life of Christ through baptism.

*  Throughout Lent, following Wednesday's Holy Eucharist and the Bible Study, there will be Stations of the Cross in the church at 12:15, for those who would like to attend.  There will also be 7 p.m. Wednesday evening liturgies led by the different organizations/groups.

*  A package containing your Lenten Card, your charitable receipt for 2018, a letter from the Rector, and an outline of Lenten services and practices is waiting for you at the back of the church.  Please remember to pick it up, as well as those belonging to your family and neighbours.

*  By now you may all know about the Lenten outreach project that the youth have planned.  You can drop off any old towels and blankets you want to donate from March 10 to 24.  The office is open each weekday from 9 to noon. The four legged furry ones in the various shelters will be so grateful with your donations.

*  Also, starting on March 10, we will be accepting donations for the Parish Lenten Outreach Project.  We are hoping that such items as diapers, wipes, recess items such as juice boxes, granola bars, etc. will filled the shelving unit in the side foyer by April 7 as that is the date when a person from the Single Parent Association will attend our 11 a.m. service and accept our donations.

*  Please remind your children or your grandchildren that our next youth group get together will be on Friday, March 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ascension.  It is a karaoke night!! Also, during the evening we will be working on a painting project for the Janeway Children's Hospital.  Come and bring a friend!

*  Just a reminder that there will be no more Sunday evening services until the last Sunday in March, which is March 31.

*  For those who attended the Pastoral Care Workshop, I am sure you found it most interesting and informative.  Special thanks to Rev'd Lynn for organizing the event and to anyone else who may have helped, and kudos to the ACW for serving such a great lunch!  Check out the Parish website for some candid shots of the event.

*  The Men's Service Club has been reaching out to the men in the parish via the Chimes and enews.  We want to enable you to get to know more of your Parish family.  That is why we are inviting you to attend one of our meetings to find out what we are all about. Our next meeting is March 18 at 7 p.m.  Next week we will update you if there are any specific plans for that meeting.  Come and see! Fun, food, and fellowship await you!

*  Just a reminder that if you haven't already been notified about the PWRDF Luncheon taking place on Sunday, March 10, after the 11 a.m. service, and you plan to attend, make sure you either sign up on the sheet in the side foyer or call the church office (368-5693) to book tickets.  Just $10 for adults and $5 for children!

*  In connection with the PWRDF Luncheon, the organizers are hoping for some help on Saturday, March 9, in preparation for Sunday's Luncheon.  They would like some helping hands for setting up at 10:30 a.m. and/or cooking which is starting at 1:30 p.m.  Thanks in advance for your help!

*  There is a special 'Clergy on the Floor Campaign' being planned to take place at the Anglican Cathedral on April 26.  Members of the clergy are going to enjoy a restless sleep on the pews and floors of the Cathedral!!! They are aiming to raise both awareness and funds for the Home Again Furniture Bank.  You can help by sponsoring a clergy member - special envelopes in the pews and at each entrance to the church.  Thanks for your anticipated support!

*  The Parish's Annual General Meeting is fast approaching.  The Nominating Committee has only one position filled of the eleven positions needed.  Please consider being part of the decision making and leadership in this parish.  The following positions are open:  five vestry positions, a treasurer, two PWRDF representatives, an Anglican Life reporter, and two Mission Leadership positions for the implementation of the Diocesan Viability Commission Report.  Think carefully, pray about it, and if you are interested, speak with the Rector's Warden, Rosalind Williams.

*  Thanks for your continued support of the foodbank.  This week they would appreciate receiving tinned meat balls and gravy/Irish stew, tetra boxes and one-litre orange juice, and tinned fruit.

*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Sidespersons' Team # 1 and Counting Team # 7.

*  And last, but by no means least, Daylight Saving Time starts this weekend.  Please remember to 'spring' your clocks ahead one hour before bedtime on Saturday night or you'll be late for church on Sunday morning. Emoji

God Bless you on your Lenten Journey!
Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
