Sunday, June 9, is Pentecost Sunday - the fiftieth day after Easter Sunday.  May peace and happiness be yours on this day; and, may God from whom every good gift comes, send the Holy Spirit to guide us on our Journey.

*  A reminder to anyone planning to attend the Lavrock Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., that the deadline for registration is Tuesday, June 11.  Details regarding the Fun Day were in last week's enews and in the Chimes.
*  According to 1 Corinthians 3, the Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others.  One way, of course, is helping to provide for those in need.  Thank you for all your donations to the foodbank.  This week they are hoping for pasta sauce, toilet paper, and tinned milk.

*  There will be no further Evening Service until September 29.

*  Special thanks to all who came to the Inside Yard Sale.  We very much appreciate your support.  There will be another one this coming Saturday from 9 to 12 noon.  For those who would like to rent a table, table rentals are $20 each and $10 for a second table.  If you are interested, please contact Brian at 682-1844 or Rosalind at 221-8400 or by email

*  The Parish has once again been accepted for a summer student position.  It is full time, minimum wage, with hours/weeks to be negotiated. Deadline for applications is June 14.  Please forward your application to: Parish of the Ascension, 58 Smallwood Drive, Mount Pearl, NL, A1N 1B1.

*  As was outlined on an insert in the Chimes, the period from Ascension Day to the Day of Pentecost each year is an intentional time of prayer within the Anglican Communion. Daily Prayer in the Chapel continues each day from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. until Pentecost.  Prayer is being observed under different themes as is stated in the insert in the Chimes and is also on the Parish facebook page, which can be accessed by way of the Parish website if you are not a Facebook user.

*  Paul Lane, MHA, is organizing a community food drive!  He is hoping for volunteers to support our local food banks.  In his email, he states he is hoping for volunteers on Saturday, June 15, to meet at 9 a.m. at St. Peter's Parish on Ashford Drive to get a door to door route.  In addition to door to door collections, he would also like volunteers at our four local grocery stores - Sobeys, Dominion, Colemans, and Walmart from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  To volunteer or for further information, please contact Paul Lane at , or call 729-2194 (office), 368-6321 (home), or 697-9583 (cell).  Thanks for your anticipated help.

*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Sidespersons' Team # 3, and Counting Team # 4.

Enjoy the warm temperatures - a real treat!

God Bless,
Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
