Thanksgiving Day according to the calendar was this past Monday, October 14.  However, every day should be a day of Thanksgiving - not one day goes by when God is not blessing us.  Thank God always for His many blessings!

*  Our church was decorated to reflect our thankfulness to God for His many blessings.  Thanks to all who came to decorate and/or brought items for that purpose.  The Thanksgiving goods will be sold at our Card Party on Tuesday, October 22.  The Party will start at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.  Admission is just $6!  As usual, your own cards and baskets are required.

*  As you shop for your groceries this week, the food bank is hoping you will include a variety of tinned soups, tinned vegetables, and tinned pasta that you will donate via the food bank boxes in our foyers.  Thanks for your continual support for those in need.

*  A gentle reminder that the All Souls' Service will be on November 2. If you would like your loved one remembered during that service by having his/her name added to the list to be read, please write the name/names in the book at the back of the church.

*  This evening there will be another community supper at Park Place hosted by Solid Rock Wesleyan Church.  Supper will be available from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.   Please come along and enjoy the fellowship and the awesome food.

*  This is a reminder that if you would like to contribute to Ride for Refuge, you may do so up to the end of October 31.  Just make cheques payable to Parish of the Ascension PWRDF - Ride for Refuge.  The amount raised to date is $2470.  Rev'd David thanks everyone for their continued support.

* The Thanksgiving Toasty Toes Campaign continues until the end of October.  If you would like to contribute to Thrive Community Centre by donating new warm socks and personal care items, you may place them in the space provided in the side foyer.

*  Please remember to pick up your quarterly statements from the back of the church which is arranged alphabetically for your convenience.  Rev'd David's Thanksgiving letter is also included.

*  Do you enjoy being spooked?  If so, why not attend Halloween in the Crypt in the Cathedral Crypt on Friday, October 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.  All t'weens and teens are invited!  Wear a costume to help keep the ghosts away, and enjoy food, pumpkin carving, and other Halloween activities.  They need to prepare enough treats for all, so please let them know if you are coming by calling 726-5677 or email

*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Sidespersons' Team #4 and Counting Team #7.

*  The next Sunday evening service will be on October 27, at 6:30 p.m.

*  Have you saved some recyclables for the CLB recycling drive on Saturday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  They will be going door to door as well as accepting recyclables on the parking lot of the Ascension.  Thanks again for your support.

*  The next meeting of the Parish Network Visitors (PNV) will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, at the home of Shirley Cooper, 67 Commonwealth Avenue (368-6180).If you are interested in this ministry, which involves visiting sick or shut-in parish members for about an hour once a month, you are welcome to come to this meeting and hear all about it.  Or, for more information, or to get a copy of our pamphlet, please contact the clergy.

That's it folks,
God Bless,
 Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
