Autumn Beauties!

Like all seasons, the season of autumn is marked by profound changes: autumn winds bringing cool breezes, leaves changing their hues in lovely bursts of color, the sun beginning its annual retreat, etc.  Let's give praise and thanks to our God for the beauty of this season.

*  The Harvest Thanksgiving Supper was wonderful - awesome meal and great fellowship.  Thanks to all who helped prepare, serve, and clean up; your service to the parish does not go unnoticed.  Special thanks to the Men's Service Club and the Anglican Church Women.

*  Instead of making a Christmas pudding this year, you may prefer to purchase one or two from the youth group. They will be selling them at $15 each to help with the cost of travel to CLAY (Canadian Youth Anglican Youth) in Calgary in 2020.The signup sheets are in both church side vestibules if you would like to make a purchase.  The puddings will be available around December 8.  Thanks in advance for your support.

*  Please don't forget to pick up your third quarter statements that includes the Rector's thanksgiving letter as well.  They are located at the back of the church and arranged alphabetically for your convenience.

*  A reminder also to write the name of your loved one/ones in the book at the back of the church if you want them specifically remembered during the November 2 All Souls' Service by having their names read out during the service.

*  As always, the food bank is hoping to find some specific items in the food boxes in the church foyers  this week:  tinned tuna, ham, chicken, or turkey, Kraft dinner (various brands) and pasta sauce.  Thank you for your continual help.

*  Next Sunday, October 27, there will be a family service at 11 a.m. and Evening Service (Holy Eucharist) at 6:30.

*  For those who have registered to be confirmed in May 2020, Confirmation Classes will begin next Sunday, October 27.  The class is being held in the multipurpose room from 2 to 4 p.m.

Ride for Refuge has raised $2725 to date!!  You can still donate, if you so wish, until October 31. Tax receipts are available at the back of the church for those who have donated.  Thanks so much!

Parish Network Visitors - your monthly meeting is postponed and you will be advised later as to when it will take place.

*  It is this Saturday coming, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.,when the CLB will gratefully receive any recyclables you have saved for them.  (They are doing door to door collecting and will also be receiving them on the church parking lot.)

*  The Thanksgiving Toasty Toes Campaign is still ongoing - until October 31.  If you would like to donate warm socks (new) and some personal care items in aid of THRIVE Community Centre, you can place them in the box in the side foyer.  Thank you!

*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Sidespersons' team # 5 and Counting Team # 8.

That's it folks,
God Bless,
Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
