November 17, is known as the Feast of St. Margaret.  StMargaret lived in the eighteenth century and was known for her devout piety, religious observance, and her charitable acts.  Her charitable acts and caring nature have led her to be titled 'the patron saint of the falsely accused, homeless, orphaned, mentally ill, etc'. It is a focus on her good work that leads us to our Advent project.

-  Our project 'St. Margaret's Boat,' will give us the opportunity to be charitable as well.  Our confirmation class, along with the congregation, will be partnering with Network Cafe to donate personal care items and gifts, which can be placed in St. Margaret's Boat located in the side foyer. (A list of specific items will be on display in the church.)  The donations will be presented at a service in December.  Thank you for your anticipated generosity.

-  On Sunday, November 24, the Godly Play group will be demonstrating a large story at the front of the church for the whole congregation to experience.

-  Advent Bible Study will begin on Wednesday, November 27 at 10 a.m. and will continue on December 4, 11 and 18.  Following the Study will be 'The Stations of the Crib.'  All are welcome!

-  The Ascension Fall Fair starts this Saturday, November 16, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.  Of course, the success of the fair depends very much on parishioner donations for the various tables (as outlined in previous Chimes and enews).  Your donations can be dropped at the church from Tuesday, November 12 to 15, from 9 to noon and on Friday evening, November 15 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

-  For those who appreciate an evening free from cooking, there is the hot roast beef supper on Monday, November 18, at 6 p.m. for just $20.  Tickets are available for the rest of the week during office hours.  Come and enjoy the delicious meal as well as the fellowship that these gatherings offer.

-  An Advent Family Activity Day is being planned for Saturday, November 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  If you and your family are planning to participate, please sign the sheet that can be found at both entrances - before November 28.  Lunch will be provided!

-  Once again the foodbank has specified some items they would like to find in our food bank boxes.  They would be very thankful for tea bags, sugar, and peanut butter.  If you prefer to give a monetary donation, that is most gratefully received as well.

-  Captains, please remind your teams:  Sidespersons' Team # 2 and Counting Team # 3.

- If you enjoy fellowship as well as good food, then come along to the community supper, today, Wednesday, November 13, at Park Place.  That evening supper from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. is being hosted by St. Peter's and Mary Queen of the World.  All are welcome!

-  Many of you enjoyed the 'Secrets' when they performed at our church once before.  Well, they will be presenting  ' A Country Christmas' on Friday, November 29.  Our choir will be joining them too!! If you are interested, tickets ($20 each) are available on Sundays following the services and from the church office during the week.

-  We all should be, and a lot of us are, doing all we can to reduce our carbon imprint.  Our parish is making the effort to help save the trees by replacing our use of banquet paper rolls by oilcloths (reusable tablecloths).  Yearly the cost of banquet rolls equals about $1000, but replacing it with reusable tablecloths would equal a total cost of $800.  We are hoping that you can help with this cost by making a donation in an envelope marked 'tablecloths.'  Thanks for your anticipated support!

-  The next Sunday evening service will be November 24 at 6:30 p.m.

Keep warm!
God Bless,
Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
