Next Sunday, December 1, is the first Sunday in Lent, the season for prayer and reformation of our hearts.  It is the Season that is ushered in by the words of Jesus: "Be constantly on the watch! Stay awake! You know not when the appointed time will come." (Mark 13:33)

*  There are several opportunities at the Ascension that can help us on our Advent journey.  In particular, there are the Quiet Wednesdays that begin with Holy Communion at 9:30 a.m., followed by a four session Advent Study that begins today after worship, and at noon you can journey the Stations of the Crib in the church.

*  You may like to browse through the Advent Book Shelves as there will be booklets, books, and other resources that you can borrow to aid you on your journey.

*  As in previous years, you can help to supply items for the Christmas food hampers by taking a tag from the tree in the main entrance.  The item on the tag can be dropped off at the church beginning December 15.  Thanks in anticipation for your support.

*  The St. Margaret's Project enables us to support The Network Cafe.  The tags that were displayed have already been taken to purchase the gifts indicated and placed in St. Margaret's boat located in the foyer. These gifts will be presented on December 15 at the 11 o'clock service.  Thanks so much!

*  The Seniors' Christmas event will take place on December 2 beginning with a service at 6 p.m. followed by a soup and dessert soup supper at 7 o'clock. To assist the youth in their hosting this event, you can take a tag from the 'gold' tree and indicate what you would like to donate by writing the information needed on the sheet provided near the tree.  These donations can be dropped off at the auditorium between 4 and 6 p.m. on Monday, December 2.

*  A reminder to the Parish Network Visitors  that the meeting scheduled for today has been postponed until later in January.

*  You have all heard about the selling of Christmas puddings by the youth group to help offset the cost of travel to Calgary in 2020 for CLAY (Canadian Lutheran Anglican Youth).  There is still time to order one or two by using the sign-up sheets located in both church foyers.  They will be available around December 8.  Your support will be appreciated.

*  If you are able to pick up a few additional groceries this week, the food bank would appreciate tinned vegetables, tinned pasta, and tinned beans.  Thanks for your continual help in providing for the needy.

*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Sidespersons' Team # 4 and Counting Team # 5.

*  The Advent Bible Study entitled 'Shine!  Light for all People!' begins today, Wednesday, November 27, at 10 a.m.  The study will be followed by 'The Stations of the Crib' in the church if you would like to attend.

*  There will be an evening service on Sunday, December 1, Advent 1, at 6:30 p.m.

*  Please note that the Advent Activity Day that was scheduled for Saturday, November 30, has been cancelled.

*  On Sunday, the first Sunday in Advent, you will be treated to a special breakfast at the Ascension Cafe (as promised) after the early morning 8:30 a.m. Holy Communion.  Emoji

May God be with you on your Advent Journey!
Jean (On behalf of Ascension)
