> MISSION SUNDAY - Next Sunday, February 23, has been designated as a MISSION SUNDAY in our diocese.  In marking this special Sunday and the Mission of God's Church that we all share, the Parishes of St. Michael's, the Ascension, the Good Shepherd, and St. Mary's will be worshipping together at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church on Craigmillar Avenue.

>

> *  In connection with that service, members of all four parishes will still be able to support their own congregations financially as all church envelopes will be sorted and sent to the appropriate church.  The Open Offering from that service will be given to the Community Food Sharing Association NL.  There will be no 11 a.m. service at the Ascension that Sunday.
>
> *  Also, If you need transportation to this service, buses will be leaving the Ascension parking lot at 9:30 a.m. sharp.  If you plan to avail of this service, please add your name to the sign-up sheets located at both church entrances.
>
> *  On Saturday, February 29, there will be an Education Day Workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be three presenters:  Dr. Cathy Balsom from the Medication Therapy Services Clinic, Greg Lovett focussing on Organ Donation, and Dr. Aaron McKim/Debbie Squires giving a presentation on Medically Assisted in Death.  If you plan to attend, please sign-up on the sheets that will be at both church entrances, or contact Rev'd Lynn at lcourage@parishoftheascension.ca.  Be sure to sign up by Monday, February 24, and please indicate if you will be staying for the luncheon.
>
> *  The Nominations Committee is still looking for individuals who would like to be a part of the vestry.  If you feel God may be calling you to be part of this ministry, please speak to any one of the wardens.
>
> *  The food bank continues to seek your help in caring for those who find it difficult to make ends meet.  This week they are hoping for crackers, cereal, and tinned soup.  Thanks so much!
>
> *  Please mark your calendars for World Day of Prayer Service which will be held on Friday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army Citadel on Ashford Drive.
>
> *  Lenten Study classes will be held on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. from March 3 to March 31.  Then after a short break, the classes will resume on April 21 until June 2.  Rev'd David will be leading the study based on the resource "Jesus Shaped Life."  All are welcome!

The menu: macaroni and cheese, ceasar salad, dinner roll, and ice cream.  The cost will be $10 for adults and $5 for children.  (Gluten-free option)  If you attended this luncheon last year, you will more than likely be called to check and see if you want tickets; if you haven't attended before, and you are interested, please call Harvey at 364-7424.  If you would like to help in any way, just call Fronie at 368-7424.  They will be setting up at 3 p.m. on February 29 at the church.  The confirmation candidates and their families will be assisting with serving and cleaning up.  Thanks to all those who support this wonderful ministry.

Special thanks to the Men's Service Club for once again hosting a pot-luck for spouses/partners of members, as well as special guests, and anyone else who prepared a 'dish' and joined us. An awesome meal indeed! Great fellowship! Some even stayed to have a game of cards after the feasting. If you would like to be part of that great club, just come to one of their meetings. Just come and see what they are all about! You may decide to stay!
