In my readings for Advent, I found this Advent Prayer which I thought you might like:

Great Giver of all that is, we have received so much through your abundant generosity. Satisfy our restless hearts with the assurance of your love for us, that during this Lenten Season, we will grow to desire your potter's hands shaping and molding us. Amen

* The next two Community Suppers at Park Place are: March 11, hosted by Park Avenue Pentecostal Church, and March 18, hosted by the Salvation Army. Come and join us for delicious food and great fellowship! Attached to this email is the March meal calendar.

* I trust that you have heard about and maybe have received the Mission Outreach Blessing Bags which is the Lenten Outreach Project of the Parishes of the Good Shepherd, St. Michael's, St. Mary's, and the Ascension. This project is in support of the Gathering Place, and we are hoping that by filling our blessing bags we are aiming to meet the immediate needs of individuals. Instructions are included with your bag that you can pick up from one of the parishes if you haven't already.

* A further reminder of the Lenten Study that is being held at the Ascension on Tuesday evenings starting this evening, March 3, at 7 p.m. Rev'd David is leading the study based on the resource entitled Jesus Shaped Life. If you are interested, please let the office know by calling 368-5693. Hope to see you there.

* Also, on Wednesday, starting tomorrow at 10:15 a.m., March 4, there is an 'Opening Doors' session following the 9:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist. This session is followed by Stations of the Cross at 12:15 p.m. if you would like to attend. If you will check the site, you will learn about all the Lenten services and programs taking place at all of the four Parishes that you may be interested in attending. (Tomorrow, we will be welcoming Cyril Tobin to our Opening Doors session. He is the Executive Director of the NL Housing and Homelessness Network.)

* The World Day of Prayer is being held this Friday coming, March 6, 7:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army Citadel on Ashford Drive. Everyone is welcome!

* This week the food bank is hoping to find: tinned tuna, ham, chicken or turkey, pasta sauce, and Kraft Dinner (various brands) in our food bank boxes situated in the church foyers. Thanks so much for your generosity.

* Captains, please remind your teams for next Sunday, March 8: Sidespersons' Team # 4. and Counting Team # 3.

* Next weekend we enter once again into Daylight Saving Time, so remember to put your clocks ahead by an hour Saturday night or you"ll be late for the early service on Sunday morning.

* For those who attended the Education Day Workshop last Saturday, I am sure you will agree, that it was an excellent workshop indeed - so interesting and so informative. Thanks, Rev'd Lynn, for all your work in making it happen.

* The Godly Play leaders are covering 'The Mystery of Easter' next Sunday, March 8, during the Godly Play get together.

* If you are anticipating completing your income tax anytime soon, your 2019 tax receipts are available in the back of the church along with your Lenten cards and information regarding the Ascension's Lenten activities.

Cougar Flight 491 annual memorial service will be held on March 12, 7 p.m., at the Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle on Kenmount Road in St. John's. A reception will follow! If you need further information, please contact Chaplain Christopher Fowler at (709) 699-2491, or, or Chaplain Susan Hall, at (709) 687-4044, or All are welcome!

* The Ascension's AGM will take place on the afternoon of March 15. The booklets containing the reports are available at the church, which you please peruse and bring with you when you attend the meeting.

* Thanks indeed to all who helped to make the PWRDF Luncheon on Sunday such a success. Special thanks to the Team who organized the event and prepared the delicious meal, and, of course, to the Confirmation candidates and their parents who helped with the serving and the clean-up. It was a wonderful opportunity for fellowship and learning about the wonderful ways in which our PWRDF donations provide help throughout the world. ($960 was raised from the luncheon.) Thanks to all who supported this worthy cause. (Check our the Parish Facebook for pictures).

May God continue to guide you on your Lenten Journey,
Jean (On behalf of the Ascension)
